Through the Ashes is your Varnhold's Lot style DLC. I get why they made it, since that was one of the drawbacks with the main game, that by the time you get all of your abilities there aren't many fights left to play around with them, but as an overall DLC it's at best "okay". Inevitable Excess is the shallowest of the current DLC, basically just a story excuse to get to tear up some combats with max powered characters since you're starting it at level 20.

Tons of magical equipment, feats, buffs, a city building minigame, a strategy minigame, etc. However, if your concern is more in terms of “how many mechanics are in this game?” Then there are a lot. I picked one that didn’t really synergize with my character build and it still turned my character into a murdering machine. The game also gives your main character a choice of mythic paths, which are ridiculously huge power buffs. So take a low difficulty class, focus on the stats/abilities with the green thumbs up next to them, and you’ll be set. So even if you somehow manage to completely screw up your main character, you’re guaranteed to still have a pretty competent party.Īs for main character builds, the game ranks classes by difficulty, and it tells you recommended stats, feats, etc to focus on. The game gives you the ability to auto level up all of your companions.
